trend alert_(sometimes, i surprise myself)

glad to see this girl at the language into art opening. all up in der NSCAD snakey stair wells and crooked hallways. lots of peeps, tangerines, words being thrown around, images, symbols. you know. this is Sarah. come to think of it, i know she is friends with friends, but beyond that, much more remains to be discovered.

lovin the long pretty skirts and big utilitarian boot combo on da babes.

found myself in (most of) this outfit thanks to rachel collyer leaving the city of halifax. she left behind the ochre cardigan and emerald dress with big pockets and made from mysterious material. ultramarine tights from own collection. mocassins were Amy's. crocheted beret was Omi's. (ps: thats the NSCAD jewelry studio you see there. taking a break from enameling all nighter)

know what i mean, jelly bean ?

(that's yours truly up there at Halifax Crafters. located at nice new spacious space, good vibes as always)

it is now 2:01 am.
aforementioned cousin friend Jasmyn and family member Terez, Mama and Papa have been up watching home videos. good idea.

blogging has been left for the darkest coldest hours of the night and house.

i will be waking up for breakfast at 9 at friend Amanda's house. after which we shall be taking off to Buffalo ny to buy wedding dresses. one for me, one for you. (just kidding). perhaps some of our dresses will make it on here. perhaps that is irony. or just lack of foresight. who knows.

right. back on track.

i spotted this lady's steez from a hallway away (not a mile, but close) ... these pink tights and other pink things recently happenchancing make me dig pink all over again. welcome back old friend.

in the background we've got Valery's collages. does she have a website? let's see ....

cherry on top

to my friend, Shenanigans Leal: so yes the maraschino sort is mildly disgusting.
but it turns out, the founder of wikipedia (currently wants you to give him some money) is a babe. jimmy wales. ok.

never mind.

halifax crafters. Regina is the lovely lady with curly locks and vintage eye glasses she ordered on a whim from the world wide web for something like 20$. how well suited they are to her face. she looks like a magical story book character; the kind that comes just at the right moment and with a soothing cup of nettle tea. a few weeks later, she was witness to a bottle of cassis liquer breaking by either ghost or shearling padded elbow (my own) at the market. i looked up and there she was with an understanding smile.

new post

oh how i would love to get the kinks worked out on the layouts of these blog things to achieve optimum aesthetic quality . bear with me ; blue skies up ahead .

cousin friend Jasmyn recommends i sign blog posts with xo. referencing something from pop culture. this ones for you babe. much love.

xo (+xo?)

bibim be bop a lula

HERE:
on this flippin chill zone day, i had just left this incredible raw food potluck at the Grainery (happened upon half by chance through good buddies anke and roberto) which surprised me with super power energy! skippin down the street called agricola with a jovial Josh towards roberts street social centre we bump into Rafa (specimen A) with his cowboy hat atop bushy hair-do. he likes the maple flavoured foods and hails from acapulco. mexico duh. then we have (specimen B) mr. Lucas Dambergs, great man, great steez; lover of cake. volunteer at anchor archive and landlord and host of far away so close on CKDU. plus works contracts. check dat.

those two you see there are David Bacsi and i embarking on adventure day to church bazaar, market and Susie's Lake.

treasure hunt. magical glassy clicking bird sounds soaring around. happy moss colours a babbling brook. bright yellow needles. licorice ginger lemon tea. such a lovely day.

Zoe. Zoe. is an artiste and a sailor. she found this outfit in her mom's closet. her boots may have been made in Montreal. they look like Hungarian dancing boots. she had Les Oefs Automne at Coastal Cafe

you ain't goin nowhere

she is journalist Jessica.  her look: an understated combination of sharp and winsome.

this outfit makes me feel like i'm in autumnal Praha.

ooh thats nice.

i could take a picture of this lady everyday

yo ya Jiye is a Korean exchange student. she'll tell you her name is pronounced like G-Yeah. she makes tiny spoons and looks colourful eclectic everyday.

Lee's looking glass necklace matches perfectly with her vivid hair do. yes please to hat and extra large sweater wonderful. (she is a student at King's. )

and Jessie is wearing all of Leila's clothes. she sells delicious preserves like home-made ketchup and cherry butter that tastes delicious with cheeses. nice cheeses. like Manchego. oh yum. she has been living on a farm. i'll tell you where in a minute.

follow up photos. awol from last post.

here we have Susan Wolf the wonderful jewler/wonderful doer of other things. in a blue leopard print betsey johnson number and matching glasses to boot.

Susan rationalizing her outfit: all other things were packed away. she's moving 2 doors down.

kate; nanny, traveller. cute in blundstone boots and old club monaco skirt. just got back from central american trip. has Guatemalan bolsa to prove it.

on the market for babes

went to the market very late in hopes of dealz. ended up photographing lovely ladies instead of getting chicken (that i was all looking forward to. which i happen to think is funny). got a ride back to the checkerboard floored studio with Jacques (of Krasnogorsk and the Moscow Country Club), a free coffee and with so much squash because i eat so much squash !

green crochet cave

a sunny, laissez-faire morning after falling backwards. a flea market excursion with Amy ends up with a frivolously fringed jacket, and a mini dress with children's drawings of suns and boats and fishes. a sidewalk intermission with more very cute friends; one of which is wearing long cold legs and patchy multi animal (multimal) vest.

both aforementioned ladies are fantastic artistes; if they had websites i would post them.

spicy situations

followed this one awesome colour combo into Little Mysteries. got shy/felt like creepy fashion stalker. pretended to be perusing the merchandise. ended up buying wonderful medicinal tea and Badger massage balm with cayenne and ginger in it (that also tastes good ...)

Lovely Lady is Louise, an accupuncturist etc etc etc.     beingwellacupuncture.com

massage balm ingredients remind me: just made DELICIOUS mole-ish sauce with the following

chipotle
garlic
ginger
jalapeno
grape seed oil
lemon juice
cumin
cacao
cinnamon
sea salt

(ingredients not in order of proportion. make at own risk/according to taste for adventure.)

zsuzsi steeeez please

making up outfits is my first brain exercise of the day, right after that jellyfish of a psyllium husk/bentonite clay mixture drink mix!

( thanks to Lauren for turquoise sock fashion photog today  in the stairwell : )

these new grey shoes i traded with David Bacsi for some oversized (for me) and undersized (for him, but just a little) Kenneth Cole super nice super soft buckskin loafers ... are the best. if i didn't have them i would still be looking for the comfiest shoes ever.

Gillian lady babe, NSCAD student. nice colours. plus gaudy giant tiger necklace to boot.

getting good

hello cutie babe! her name is Christel. Masters in Design at NSCADU.

wow + wow

Jimmy Tony Billy, Cory, David, Carys and Zsuzsa; a bunch of friends went on a roadtrip to Prince Edward Island. We crossed the bridge pumping RATM, slept on beaches, had party nights, skinny dipped, found a large animal jaw bone, reheated vegetarian lasagna over the fire in Camp Cookers Carys and i made at 2 am the night before departure while the rest of the gang watched some movie about prehistoric peeps. The van almost broke down. (later it got even closer to breaking down. so much so that a trek out west was called off. it was Cory's van. but he played video games in the back most of the time without a drivers license in sight. )

... we also stopped by Andy's Dummy Farm. Andy is in his 80's and his entire property is decorated with hundreds of signs with shaky handwritten jokes painted on them, a huge assortment of pretty trash and broken things, dummy characters made out of panty hose outfit with vintage dresses and hats and suits and moustaches and sunglasses and handbags.

this is me, getting to the point:
many of his signs had WOW on them. and after the punchline of some extra special jokes it said WOW+WOW. and this is why the title of my post is such.

because sometimes, when its 2am and i'm working in the enameling studio at NSCAD with my good buddy Erica, it hits me. just how awesome it is to be cohabitating with so many wonderful people with so many stories. so many options and emotions, weather conditions and songs, dinner parties and  destinations. this blog is all about the wonderful people i encounter.

i had originally intended to start a Halifax street style blog (inspired by all the fantastic street style blogs out there and all the well dressed peeps  on the streets out there) ... but i find myself unable to narrow it down to just that. so i have opened this site up to all stylishness i see anywhere i am.

i hope you enjoy this mish-mash of all the lovely little and big things i see day to day!

xoxo Zsuzsa Sun Tiger Szoke

PS: oh YA. friend of mine David (funky freshly dressed man pictured above) and i are making Vagabond Vintage sales happen around the city of Halifax. check out our facebook group by the same name. we'll post upcoming events on there and on here also.

join the club, yo. look good for good prices !
